Loved @LimeFreshMex!
Upon my return from the warm and sandy beaches of Mexico, the first place I went in Clarendon was the newly opened Lime Fresh Mexican Grill. A couple of my girlfriends and I took our babies there (three strollers, three high chairs, 3 loud baby voices, and 6 food-throwing arms) right before the lunch rush. In addition to all of us loving our meals, the staff was INCREDIBLE! I have to...
Mexico!
Sorry I’ve been MIA, but I just got back from a relaxing week in Mexico doing nothing but eating tacos, swimming up to bars, and enjoying funny-faced drinks out of coconuts. I’ll be back to blogging as soon as I adjust back to reality. Hope you’re all well!
RIP Eleventh Street Lounge and Crossfit
It was recently reported by ArlNow.com that Crossfit would be closing its doors at the end of the month. Sadly, the time has come for Eleventh Street Lounge, too. I’m Facebook friends with one of the Eleventh waitresses, who posted this last night:
FYI: Eleventh St Lounge will be closing on Jan 29. Stayed tuned for all the closing specials, parties, and events. This will include, but...
Opening date for @LimeFreshMex is January 16!
Lime Fresh Mexican Grill, which is opening their first DC location here in Clarendon, has just announced the restaurant’s opening date: January 16! Sadly, I’ll be on vacation in Mexico January 14 - 21 (ok, not sad), so I’ll miss the big grand opening, but hey - at least I’ll be united in Mexican food with all of my Clarendon neighbors!
In case you aren’t...

Formal request to @BGRBurgerJoint
This blog post serves as a formal request to BGR Burger Joint. I came across a recipe for one of the best burgers I’ve truly ever made, and I’d like for BGR to consider adding it to their menu. I’m completely serious. It’s the French Onion Burger of Wonder, and it certainly is deserving of that name. The mister and I have had it two nights in a row, tonight will be...

Photos from my holiday weekend
Here are some snapshots from our holiday weekend. I hope your weekend was just as relaxing and beautiful as ours was!
(Driving around the neighborhoods to see Christmas lights while sipping hot cocoa and listening to Christmas tunes)
(‘Occupy’ protest Santa-style)
(Visiting the White House Christmas tree just as President Obama heads to Hawaii)

Things you should know....
Paciugo Gelato and Caffè, is coming to Clarendon. Clarendon’s new motto: More of the same! (To be fair, Paciugo is Dallas-based, so I’ve had it before, and it’s awesome.)
Lime Fresh Mexican Grill opening next month! Keeping my fingers crossed that Lime Fresh will help satisfy the Tex-Mex itch that Clarendon can’t currently scratch.
Still trying to decide what to...

Weekly recap in photos
My mom was in town visiting this week which left me with little time to blog. Here is a recap of my week in photos…
(Market Tavern, the restaurant formerly known as Harry’s Tap Room. I wanted to like it more than I did, to put it nicely.)
(French Onion soup from the new Paul in Georgetown. I love their quiches, croissants, and pastries, but the French Onion soup isn’t...

The White House Tweetup! #WHTweetup
I was so honored and excited to have attended the White House Holiday Open House Tweetup, which was held yesterday. The tweetup included a morning briefing by White House officials and concluded with an afternoon tour of the White House holiday decorations. It was nothing less than a dream come true for me.
For the most part, I have refrained from sharing my political voice on my blog, but...

Revolve is rolling in this weekend
Revolve, Clarendon’s newest indoor cycling studio, located at 1025 N. Fillmore Street next door to Bakeshop, will open its doors this Sunday. Catering to all types of cyclists, Revolve will offer three different levels of cycling classes. (Perfect timing to train for our new Bikeshare shations!)
Bakeshop will be handing out free cupcakes to participants of the 9:30 a.m. debut...

Arlington Magazine launch party
I was invited to attend the Arlington Magazine launch party last night at Eventide in Clarendon and what a fabulous event it was! I’ve said it before, but the folks at Arlington Magazine are truly the kindest and most talented folks I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Throughout the evening, the signature “Arlington Cocktail” (see photo and recipe below) was poured and...

#EgyElections
In other news, today is a really big day in Egypt, and I would appreciate lots of positive, democratic vibes from every corner of the internet. Parliamentary elections are happening today, and the results will shape the future of the country that both of my parents emigrated from. A friend of a friend, Mahmoud Salem, is actually running for office of one of the affluent districts of Cairo. He...

'Tis the Season! #WHTweetup
The holiday season has officially arrived, and it couldn’t have come with more exciting news: I was invited to attend the White House Holiday Tweetup! (and apparently, my #WHTweetup tweet and post led to at least a few of my followers also applying for and receiving invites!)
Seeing the White House decked out for the holidays has been a dream for as long as I can remember, and I’m...

Lyon Hall brunch
If you’re staying in town this holiday weekend and trying to line up brunch plans, consider @LyonHall, one of our personal favorites. We headed there with some good friends last weekend, and had a pretty amazing lineup of dishes. I’ve blogged about Lyon Hall before (here, here, and here), and I’m certain you’ll see it again. It’s always a solid choice.

iPhone archives
I’ve decided to start a new series: iPhone archives! I take pictures with my iPhone daily, but the photos don’t always make it to my blog. Rather than let the files rot in digital wasteland, I’ve decided to share them with you.
(Early morning fog on George Washington Parkway.)
(Fig & Prosciutto pizza at Mia’s in Bethesda on a double date with my BIL & SIL....

Obligatory Trader Joe's Post
If you’re anything like me, you’ve already been to Trader Joe’s at least three times since they opened three days ago, have planned several of your meals around the frozen aisle, and you’re scratching your head trying to come up with more groceries to add to your list as an excuse to get back there again today.
If you have yet to make it over there, here are some photos...
Trader Joe's!
Trader Joe’s much anticipated opening day is finally here, and I honestly can’t think of a more exciting time in Clarendon. While I won’t have the opportunity to get to Trader Joe’s until later this afternoon, I wanted to share some photos from a fellow Clarendon blogger - Cooking in Clarendon! Check out the photos she took this morning when her sweet little family arrived...

@ScrewtopWineBar
I love Screwtop for several reasons:
The owner, Wendy Buckley, is a fellow Texan!
It’s 20 steps from the front door of my building;
Despite a poor economy and a “tucked away” location, Screwtop seems to be thriving;
The coziness and warmth that you feel (even before the wine gets to you) makes you forget about the rest of the world;
The FOOD!
For a quick mid-week date...
