Curbside Cookoff Photos
Spent a small part of my day yesterday enjoying the four-wheel madness that took over downtown DC. The DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs organized the city’s first ever Curbside Cookoff, which is essentially the type of food truck war that you’d normally see on the Food Network. This was, however, was right in our own backyard. And we were the judges.
I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time when Fojol Brothers wheeled up, which meant no line. I couldn’t pass up a no-line opportunity like that, so I walked right up and placed my order - Buttery Chicken with Beans served over steamed basmati rice. It was piping hot, and at only $6, the huge portion felt like a steal. Dessert was Curbside Cupcakes. Chocolate on chocolate. My 2 favorite things.
I might pull my camping gear out and head back into the city for Red Hook Lobster Pound later today. The line was as deep as the sea before the truck even pulled up yesterday. Fuel might be a distant memory by the time I actually make it to the ordering window of this particular truck.
