Obligatory Trader Joe’s Post
If you’re anything like me, you’ve already been to Trader Joe’s at least three times since they opened three days ago, have planned several of your meals around the frozen aisle, and you’re scratching your head trying to come up with more groceries to add to your list as an excuse to get back there again today.
If you have yet to make it over there, here are some photos of my Trader Joe’s experience, food and all.

Paneer Tikka Masala - a delicious vegetarian option which includes spinach basmati rice and paneer in a masala sauce. Found in the frozen aisle.

Stuffed grapeleaves - Vegetarian stuffed grapeleaves filled with rice, dill, and mediterranean spices. Great for your stuffed grapeleaves fix, well made, and cheaper than Whole Foods, but not nearly as delicious as the ones I make at home. Found in the refrigerator aisle.

Pork Shu Mai Pork dumplings (with dipping sauce included) - Let me just say: you HAVE TO steam these instead of microwaving them. I tested one in the microwave before I cooked them all, and the texture was completely off. Steamed, however, they were the way steamed dumplings should be, and the flavor was much more enhanced than the microwaved ones. Trust me on this. If you don’t have a steamer, run to Crate and Barrel, and buy one. It will make your entire Trader Joe’s experience much more enjoyable. Found in the frozen aisle.

Vegetable Birds Nests (bottom left) - Tempura battered and fried veggies. Found in the frozen aisle.

Steamed chicken dumplings - our least favorite of the group. I’ll probably never buy these again. It’s not that they were BAD necessarily - it’s just that the Shu Mai dumplings (pictured above) were 10 times better, AND the Shu Mai even came with their own sweet dipping sauce. These don’t come with any sauce, so we had to pull out our soy sauce, which was just too salty. Found in the frozen aisle.

Green plant juice - Delicious. I was skeptical, but I bought a bottle to try on my toddler (who sticks her nose up at anything green), and she loved it. So did I. It’s fruity (reminded me of mango juice), and hard to believe there’s stuff in there that’s actually good for you. Found in the juice aisle.
