#EgyElections

In other news, today is a really big day in Egypt, and I would appreciate lots of positive, democratic vibes from every corner of the internet. Parliamentary elections are happening today, and the results will shape the future of the country that both of my parents emigrated from. A friend of a friend, Mahmoud Salem, is actually running for office of one of the affluent districts of Cairo. He is a political blogger who unmasked his identity during the Egyptian revolution. His vision for Egypt’s future is a vision I share: a land of freedom and prosperity where the government fights corruption and works towards peace for its own people and for the world. I hope all who are elected today work towards that same vision.
